It’s…slightly annoying that my most popular post is the one where I’m giving advice (even if it’s not meant to be taken seriously).
Seeking advice is addicting and can become a proxy for action. Giving it can also be addicting in a potentially pretentious, soul-rotting sort of way, and can replace experimenting because you think you know how things work. Be suspicious of lists, advice, and lists of advice. Frank Chimero, “What Advice Would You Have For a Graphic Design Student”
To make up for this, I plan to publish a lot more stuff in 2024, like, a surprisingly large amount of writing. Most of it will be bad, and hidden away on this site. The good bits will find their way to your inbox through my newsletter (if you’re subscribed).
What do I write about? Everything I feel like I have a right to talk about.
Writing app of choice: I’ve been using Bear for the last couple years, for everything from essay drafts to list collections.
